“I think it’s shocking that when we’re talking about poverty in Kansas City we’re talking about women and children” ~ Karen Herman
The Women’s Foundation of Greater Kansas City brings together money, ideas and action to create lasting change for women and girls, their families and our community. I have been involved with the Foundation for almost 3 years and both Alison Peterson and I serve on their Communications Committee. We have helped the Foundation establish brand guidelines as well as design newsletters, business cards, brochures, and the last 2 of their Commemorative Journals. Last summer we were given the opportunity to design and develop a new website (one that we are particularly proud of !) and even though we have been so connected and involved with the organization from a marketing perspective, it wasn’t until we were asked to produce a video for their Annual Luncheon that I truly understood first-hand the impact the Foundation has on our community. What does it mean to invest in women and girls? While shooting this video I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing an inspiring young woman, Robyn, who has decided to make a change and break the cycle of poverty, drug use and prostitution in her own life. I am proud that there are organizations and people in this world creating and funding programs that help women like Robyn do just that. Watch the video below to see how WFGKC and their grantee partners invest in women and positively impact their lives.
